Mediumship is the act of proving life after life through communication with loved ones in spirit….it is not messages from guides, it is not reading the aura, it is not advice and guidance – it is communication with loved ones in spirit just as one would talk with them were they alive today with you.
This being the case, if a loved one swore when they were alive, they would swear when they are spirit. The transition from death on Earth to Life beyond does not change a spirit’s personality or being – it is the same person we know and love (or not), yet without a physical body.
Here lies another important thing – we do not talk to them but rather, they talk to us – so if spirit for whatever reason does not wish to talk to us, then it does not matter if you are the best medium in the world, you will be unable to make communication.
So how do we do this?
Recognise that spirit now exists within a self awareness that is emotional and mental but not physical. Much like existing as thought. They have all their memories and their wits, they just do not have a physical body. They may think they do, they may say to you they can see the hand at the end of their arm – but it is not physical like it is for us – it is more a memory, a mind frame. Nevertheless, this is not of our concern as a medium.
As a medium we have only one purpose and that is to communicate with spirit proving life after life. The accepted ‘rules’ here are that the medium must PROVE the link before they give the message. The link is proved by giving details that the medium would not know. These can be anything from Names, Descriptions, Tattoos, experiences, how one died etcetera.
The medium uses such tools as clairvoyance, clairsentience or clairaudience to translate and interpret the interaction between themselves and spirit. It is not easy and nor should it be! It is about the medium raising their vibration to tune in with the vibration of spirit. The one primary means to achieve this is FAITH and TRUST in self and the process (with a hint of scepticism to keep one honest).
Anybody can be a medium, indeed most people are mediums because they have dreams and feelings and ‘knowing’ when it comes to loved ones now in spirit. The thing is to think of these feelings and ‘knowings’ and dreams and ‘mind talk’ as just another language to be interpreted.
The stronger the link, the more ‘buzzy’ the medium feels as the medium and the spirit share common energy. There is a strong knowing with the medium that the link is strong, it can be felt and it carries an assurance that messages received are strong and accurate.
Ethics
- Just because you get messages from spirit does not mean you have the right to pass them on – that is called gossiping or sticking your nose in somebody else’s business.
- Do not make things up! Better to declare there is no link than to make one up.
- The medium has a duty to two people; first the person they are giving the message to and secondly, the spirit they are translating the message from. Do both parties the honour and respect to not misrepresent.
- Be sensitive to the emotional states of both parties.
- Ask for detail!
- Never apologize if the person you are giving the message to does not accept what you get. You job is not to impress but rather it is to translate.
- For Tipuna – get permission first.
- Never be under the influence of drugs or alcohol when doing Mediumship – the process is sacred and should be treated so.
- Be humble and do not fall into the trap of being over confident.
- BREAK the link when you are finished.
- DO NOT GOSSIP TO OTHERS WHAT IS GIVEN IN CONFIDENCE AND SACREDNESS.
Clairvoyance or “Clear Seeing”, is the ability to see anything that is not physically present, such as objects, animals or people. This sight occurs “in the mind’s eye”. Some mediums say that this is their normal vision state. Others say that they must train their minds with such practices as meditation in order to achieve this ability, and that assistance from spiritual helpers is often necessary. Some clairvoyant mediums can see a spirit as though the spirit has a physical body. They see the bodily form as if it were physically present. Other mediums see the spirit in their mind’s eye, or it appears as a movie or a television programme or a still picture like a photograph in their mind.
Clairaudience or “Clear Hearing”, is usually defined as the ability to hear the voices or thoughts of spirits. Some Mediums hear as though they are listening to a person talking to them on the outside of their head, as though the Spirit is next to or near to the medium, and other mediums hear the voices in their minds as a verbal thought.
Clairsentience or “Clear Sensing”, is the ability to have an impression of what a spirit wants to communicate, or to feel sensations instilled by a spirit.
Clairsentinence or “Clear Feeling” is a condition in which the medium takes on the ailments of a spirit, feeling the same physical problem which the spirit person had before death.
Clairalience or “Clear Smelling” is the ability to smell a spirit. For example, a medium may smell the pipe tobacco of a person who smoked during life.
Clairgustance or “Clear Tasting” is the ability to receive taste impressions from a spirit.
Claircognizance or “Clear Knowing”, is the ability to know something without receiving it through normal or psychic senses. It is a feeling of “just knowing”. Often, a medium will claim to have the feeling that a message or situation is “right” or “wrong.”
